Conference Weekend!!! SCKC, Here I Come!

This week has been CRAZY! With report cards, meetings, post-Valentine’s day candy hype, and prepping for my presentations at SCKC this weekend, I thought I’d use this week to share with you what I’ll be presenting on this weekend and remind you of some of our new releases! ?

Southern California Kindergarten Conference meets in Pasadena, CA! Not too far from our office home base in San Dimas. It’s two days – TODAY and tomorrow!

Here are some descriptions of my topics this weekend:

Numeracy & Number Identification Activities for Wiggly Kids
Come learn how to take advantage of music, muscle memory, and more to help your kids learn to identify the numbers. Then get tons of great hands-on ideas that could be used in centers or small group instruction to help kids develop number sense. Ideas for adapting the same activities to help teach beginning place value (sets of tens and ones to count out the larger numbers) will also be given.

ADHD & Sensory Interventions: Classroom Tested Ideas that WORK!
Grade Levels: TK, K, 1, 2
Do you have kids that are wiggly, active, restless, inattentive, and just can’t stop touching other people or things? Join Heidi for plenty of easy ways to differentiate and help those children be successful in school whether they actually have ADHD- or if perhaps they are just kids acting like kids.

Helping Your Struggling Students Meet the Common Core Standards with Music, Movement, and More
Grade Levels: Pre-K, TK, K
Do you have some late bloomers that are “just not getting it,” no matter what? Join Heidi for some time tested techniques to help slow learners, budding English language learners, and special needs children meet the state standards. Topics will include teaching the alphabet, numeral recognition, CVC words, sight words, and behavior management.

I LOVE this conference and meeting new people every year, as well as connecting with so many of you that have become such dear friends!! Who’s here this weekend???

Last week, we released our newest animated DVD – Nursery Rhymes!

Parents, caregivers, and teachers have been teaching their children nursery rhymes for HUNDREDS of years. The reason that nursery rhymes continue to be popular is because they help children develop language, vocabulary, and help them form the foundation for learning to rhyme words on their own. Many nursery rhymes also contain phrases that start with words that all have the same beginning sounds, so this helps children begin to become aware of the sounds of their language. Awesome, right?? ?

I’m also excited to announce that we have finished animating Sing & Spell Volume 3!!! So keep an eye out for that in the next two weeks or so!

Well, I hope you have a lovely weekend!! Those of you at the conference, come say hi!!!

  1. Thank you Heidi, I am one of your biggest fans. We use your DVD’s nearly everyday. I teach a half day kindergarten in Tracy California.I have been teaching kindergarten for about 10 years. Like you I was moved to 1st for a few years but have found my way back to kinder. The only way I will leave it again is if they carry me out on a stretcher, HA!
I was lucky enough to get to go to a conference in San Jose a few years ago and it changed my teaching life. Just having the kids get up and dance each day helps with behavior, skills, and makes us happy all at the same time. They are little miracles everyday. I still use other well known CD’s/you tubes of children’s songs because you can’t get too much song and dance and happy. I really like how yours differentiate seamlessly. My readers can read the lyrics, my middle kids can see the word or number and the ten frame in the wall paper as well. And the beginners hear it and dance it getting them ready to “see” it.
I do wish there was an easy way to mix up the songs to specifically target the skills we are working on that day. I am sure technology .will come along soon to let us do just that. Wish I could have been at this conference maybe next time.

    • Thank you! I, too, wish that there were an easy way to mix up the songs and put them in the order that we need. Maybe some day it will be possible.
I’m so glad to have made a difference in your life and in the lives of your students!
      Take care,
